I ran across a post earlier today that caught my attention. Although I’m not really into old people lovin’, it featured the same image from this post, so you can see why it caught my eye! It features some pretty remarkable marketing samples from Virgin Money and Virgin Airways. It’s been a while since I’ve seen such awesome “Shock Marketing” from a company, but as a new brand launch it totally works. It’s edgy. It grabs you by the ear and says “Hey you, check this out!”.
I’m not so sure this is the best time to launch a new bank. But, who am I to question the man behind Virgin (Sir Richard Branson)?

Hey Jeff, I agree this is awesome. Not just because it’s edgy and different, but because it demonstrates what can happen when a real entrepreneur gets into banking (most banks are run by bankers, not entrepreneurs). If you’re interested, I posted about this topic too, at http://jeff-stephens.com/2009/11/richard-branson-finally-an-entrepreneur-in-banking/. I look forward to watching as this effort (and the campaign itself) rolls out.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen marketing this “edgy”, but it’s awesome! [link to post]
